Welcome to
The Maidstone Hospital
League of Friends
Who we are
The League of Friends (LoF) has existed in the Maidstone hospital virtually as long as the National Health Service has been in existence. We started at the old hospital building that was located in Marsham Street, Maidstone town centre. We moved with the hospital in 1981 to virtually our present site and we continue to flourish and support the hospital.
Maidstone Hospital League of Friends (LoF) aim to provide a link between the hospital Trust and the community it serves, and supports the hospital in any way possible.
What we do
The LoF is very active providing in excess of £100,000 each year to purchase items of equipment which the Trust is unable to fund.
In addition, we carry out work such as the revamping of the Sensory Garden which has been a great benefit to patients and staff during recent Covid-19 lockdowns, when the prospect of “fresh air” has been wonderful. We also fund research in the hospital and fund focus groups where they are shown to be of use to patients.
The shop is an ever present source of help to patients who want to unload their problems and our volunteers love to hear their stories and provide empathy and solace – where they can.
The LoF is constantly evolving to meet the changing needs of our hospital.
